Can OpenSolaris compete with Linux?

I personally don't think they can beat Linux however with the rising popularity, and heaps of experience gained from industry, they will become one of the big players. What is your opinion?

Hi ... I think the most important thing for us to do is continue building community. We've come a long way in the last few years, but there is still so much more to do. And it's very cool stuff, too. Also, most people in the community are really quite focused on improving the technology and moving to open development and self governance.

u r right... it probably won't replace linux, but will become a niche tool, the same way openbsd and the like are today.
